Welcome to the Alexandria YES Team
About the YES Team
The Youth Engaged in Service (YES) Team is a dymanic group of high school students who work with the Alexandria, VA Chapter of the American Red Cross. We are a team of emerging leaders. If you want to make a positive difference in our community and worldwide, you can get involved in many ways. Browse the site, check out our Facebook page and feel free to send us an email for more information.
What We Do
The YES Team meets monthly at the Chapter House to discuss and plan upcoming service projects. Throughout the course of the year, YES Team members will complete a variety of service projects and participate in leadership development activities that benefit the local and global community.
Overview of Alexandria Red Cross Services
-
Bio-Medical Services: The Alexandria Red Cross partners with the local community to safeguard our blood supply levels. Assists with non-medical duties at the Chapter or various locations in Alexandria by registering, escorting donors, or serving refreshments. Hours are flexible and training if provided!
-
International Services: When war, armed conflict or natural disaster disrupts normal communication, Red Cross brings hope and helps those who have lost contact and communications with loved ones in affected countries.
-
Health & Safety Education: The Alexandria Red Cross provides courses (at varying costs) to address crucial health and safety needs in the home and workplace. We need volunteer instructors for these classes (Adult CPR/AED Training, Infant/Child CPR, First Aid Training, Babysitting, Water safety, HIV/AIDS prevention education, and Pet First Aid).
-
Chapter Support: Volunteers perform a variety of in-house support services, which can range from data entry, phone support and other administrative projects. This includes "Done in a Day" activities

Disaster Relief: When disaster strikes our community helps those affected to rebuild their lives. Emergency assistance is provided 24/7 at no cost, including:
-
Assitance for basic necessities (food, clothing, shelter)

Youth Programs: The Alexandria Red Cross offers youth training and volunteer opportunities to develop leadership skills, health and safety awareness, and personal responsibility.
